Neal Kedzie: Tolls on existing interstates is poor option

"Dear Editor: On behalf of the trucking industry in Wisconsin (president, Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association) I would like to respond to the recent Cap Times article about interstate tolling ("Tolling continues to emerge as Wisconsin transportation funding fix idea").

Tolling existing interstates is the worst of all options. Besides taking years to generate any net income, operating, administrative and maintenance costs of toll facilities typically consume between 12 and 33 percent of the revenues collected."
